Minds For Life

Mental health support apps

MFL a UK-based mental health organisation dedicated to providing accessible support, advice, and counselling services for individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges.

Our goal was to design a digital solution that could extend MFL’s mission and impact. We created a comprehensive suite of mobile applications, each tailored to a specific area of mental health: grief, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and sexual abuse. Each app was tailored with sensitivity, accessibility, and user empowerment at its core.

Through thoughtful UX design and intuitive UI, we ensured that users could easily navigate resources, access guided self-help tools, and connect with professional support when needed. The apps were designed not just to inform, but to encourage action—helping users take meaningful steps to improve their well-being.

/the process

Each app was structured around a modular system of 4 to 7 stages, designed to guide users through a focused mental health journey.

Within each stage, users progressed through 3 to 5 purposefully crafted steps, supported by interactive tools that encouraged reflection, action, and emotional growth.

We explored a range of UI concepts before arriving at a playful, dial-inspired interface —an intuitive, tactile mechanism for navigating between stages and accessing individual steps in the experience.

Early prototype of the stages “dial” UI.

(the bounce was tamed=)

/iconography

I designed a clean, unified icon set to represent each stage and tool, focusing on simplicity, recognisability, and alignment with the overall visual language of the app. Each icon was designed to subtly convey function while maintaining consistency in weight, scale, and form.

Here’s a glimpse at some of the icons..

Lastly, developed a cohesive set of curated colour themes.
